Our History

As a not-for-profit mortgage lender working to help more people become homeowners, Springboard Home Loans is committed to helping clients secure the best mortgage financing options on the market. Our Community Mortgage Bankers are experts in walking first-time home buyers through the process, making sure they understand every step, and going to bat for the best rates and terms available. We’ve been in the business for over 35 years, and in that time have developed a number of unique products and options designed to make homebuying more affordable.

Springboard Home Loans was started in 1982 out of a garage in the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego. Originally named San Diego Neighborhood Housing Services, we began by providing rehab loans to homeowners to revitalize the neighborhood. From there, our not-for-profit mortgage lending activities grew both in the products offered, and in our reach, to what you see today – A national Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) helping people invest in their future and their community through the biggest wealth-building opportunity most will encounter: homeownership.

Our Mission

Bridging the wealth gap in America by providing scaled solutions and access to capital; with a focus on first-time home buyers, people of color, and rural communities.
